A number of market actors, including the AIB, CEER, CEDEC, RECS International and others issued a common statement earlier this week . The statement is a call to keep EU energy and emissions markets protected from VAT fraud beyond 2018. Specifically, aiming to extend the derogation for a domestic reverse charge mechanism for electricity, gas and emissions allowances in Article 199a of the VAT Directive. The reverse charge mechanisms moves the responsibility for the reporting of a VAT transaction from the seller to the buyer.
