Sparkasse Bochum, part of the German Savings Banks Finance Group (Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe), will switch to 100% green electricity from next year. The head office and all 45 Bochum branches will also be supplied with climate-friendly hydroelectricity from January 1, 2020.
Jürgen Hohmann, CEO of Sparkasse Bochum said the following:
"With the switch to green electricity we would like to contribute to improving Bochum's carbon footprint",
Local utility Stadwerke Bochum, will facilitate the transition by sourcing green electricity from TÜV-certified Norwegian hydropower plants fed into the German power grid.
