Serbia and Slovakia become members of AIB

Monday, 07 October 2019

AIB has announced that Serbia and Slovakia have been accepted as members of the AIB. They are expected to be connected to AIB Hub and start activity towards the end of December 2019.

OKTE, a.s. (Slovak electricity market operator) has been appointed as the register of Guarantees of Origin (GO) for electricity generated from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and highly efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants. Slovakia produces around 6.5 TWh of renewable electricity (mostly hydro) every year.

Similarly, EMS AD BEOGRAD was appointed as the Issuing Body for GO for Serbia. Disclosure rules came into force in Serbia on October 2017. Serbia produces around 10 TWh of renewable electricity (mostly hydro) every year.

Membership in the AIB allows for GOs from the Serbia and Slovakia to be recognized in other AIB member countries, and vice versa.
